Movable Expands with “Bring Your Own Wearable” Capabilities
Company selects Validic digital health platform to access wearable devices
Cleveland, OH – May 12, 2015 – Movable announced today that they are expanding their platform's reach with the ability to connect to over 175 devices, healthcare applications and wearables. The company is leveraging Validic's industry leading digital health platform to power its access to data from the most popular and innovative mobile health technologies.
Movable’s three-part platform includes a wearable device, an engaging front-end Dashboard, and back-end Admin Center, which enables outcomes-driven activity programs in group settings such as companies, schools, and hospitals. The company widely distributes its own low-cost Movband devices to help participants gain basic awareness of their activity levels. While the demand for its devices has increased seven-fold in the last few years, Movable is opening its platform to include most connected wearables, including devices from Garmin, Jawbone and Fitbit. According to PwC’s 2014 report, The Wearable Future, 21% of Americans already own a wearable device.
“We’re excited to partner with Movable, allowing Garmin users to access the Movable platform to track their activity,” said Allison Swelin, head of Garmin’s strategic partnerships. “Designed for 24/7 wear, our line of activity trackers are purpose-built to motivate and help users develop lifelong healthy habits.”
Validic, the leader in digital health data connectivity, worked with Movable to provide access to the device data.
“We are excited to have Movable as both an integration and client of Validic,” said Validic CEO Ryan Beckland. “They have a unique strategy that offers employee and patient engagement programs focused on driving positive health outcomes through motivating group movement.”
Movable currently reports average engagement rates at 70% – high by industry standards – and expects that opening its platform to additional devices will continue to increase not only engagement, but also collected data and outcomes. The company anticipates that their multi-device capabilities will drive demand from new clients as well as its 900 current clients and strategic partners including Cigna, OhioHealth, and Wells Fargo.
"This holistic way to engage users and collect data through our platform broadens our reach,” said Movable’s CEO, Blake Squires. “We see the future as using our activity and program data to better inform interventions - whether simple wellness or complex disease management. We are actively partnering with companies on both the wellness and clinical side to drive this value."
